You can use conventional motor oil in your vehicle’s engine, it’s not the best motor oil you should use and you will have to do an oil change more often but you can use conventional motor oil if you have to do an oil change and synthetic oil is cost prohibitive at the time, but if you have a healthy engine; ie. (no motor oil leakage or very little motor oil consumption) and you can afford the initial cost, it is recommended you use full synthetic or synthetic blend for the best motor oil to use in your vehicle’s engine.
Most quality name brand conventional motor oils will do the job they’re designed to do, just to a lesser extent, and it’s just going to add more to your maintenance costs, “oil changes and oil filters” not to mention the loss of longevity of your engine because conventional motor oil breaks down quicker than synthetic motor oil does which will require more frequent oil changes which equals more maintenance costs.
The use of synthetic motor oil in all internal combustion engines causes less friction and wear on moving engine parts as compared to conventional motor oil and doesn’t require as many oil changes over the same time period as conventional motor oil>.

As you can see the latter demonstration, the resistance method is not the correct or most widely used test method for testing motor oil.
The four ball wear test method, ASTM D 4172 is the more widely used way to screen motor oil for further testing under another test called ASTM D 5533 Sequence IIIF. The four ball wear test method is used to screen motor oil lubricants ASTM D 4172 as well as grease lubricants ASTM D 2266. ASTM is for American Standards For Testing And Measurements.
